The Republic Day long weekend is just over and many Mumbaikars chose to spend it out of the city. The Andaman and Nicobar islands, Alibaug and Tarkarli top the list of most popular destinations among Mumbaikars, followed by Matheran, Kerala, Manali, Mahabaleshwar, Ganapatipule, Lonavala, Shimla and of course, Goa. While the most popular destinations among couples and families included Andaman and Nicobar islands, Kerala, Simla and Goa, groups and solo travellers headed off to Ganapatipule, Matheran and Tarkarli.

While travellers from Mumbai booked almost 38 days prior to their journey date, the average length of their trip was four nights and five days. 52% of Mumbai travelled as a couple (two adults), 10% as a group (three or four adults) 9% as a family (two adults and one child) and 4% as family with two adults and two children. 

While the average budget of the trip was ₹24,400, couples spent approximately ₹27,900 and a group (three or four adults) spent ₹18,500. For families the cost came up to approximately ₹23,650 (two adults and one child) and ₹24,850 (two adults and two children).
