Monday to Saturday, Mumbai’s men in white are busy racing about to deliver food across the city. But this Sunday, they step out for a cause. Today, at 11 am, dabbawalas are taking out an awareness drive for cancer prevention. They start off from platform number four at Churchgate station.

February 4 is World Cancer Day and the drive marks this event. President of Mumbai Dabbawala Association, Raghunath Medge, is also expected to be present and will be flagging off the event alongwith Amol Naikawadi, Joint MD, Indus Health Plus.

This, however, won’t be the first time, when the dabbawalas have lent their support for a health cause. In 2006, on World AIDS Day, 5,000 dabbawalas delivered lunch boxes with AIDS awareness messages to over a lakh Mumbaikars.
