Mumbai doesn’t see spring, but its bartending scene sure does. During a dinner with friends, we were amused to spot across our table a glass with flower petals.

You see, internationally, flowers are being used as ingredients big time, and while we’ve been waiting for it to happen in India, it’s just only began to trickle down.

Seeing a glass with lavender petals sure did give us the high we needed to set out in the city and scout for places where you could quench your thirst with some refreshing nature’s bounty.

Lavender Flower cocktail, Silver Beach Cafe



Served in a chilled Maritni glass, the vodka that goes into this cocktail is infused in lavender for three months. Also going into the glass is casis, and a dash of lime. And it’s available on the menu.

Jasmine Caipiroska, Chez Moi, Bandra and Oshiwara




While you can see Jasmine in your glass, the flower is not muddled into the drink; it’s actually vodka infused with jasmine, and the heightened flavour of the flower comes from jasmine green tea. Also going into the glass are lemon wedges and brown sugar. And guess where are these flowers for the drinks sourced from? From Ferns n Petals.

Orchid blush, Chez Moi



Black grape juice, litchi and lime juice are added to white rum that has been infused with orange lilies.

Spring In A Glass, Chez Moi




This one is gin infused with rose petals. Also going into the glass are mango puree and cardamom.

Chez Moi Martini, Chez Moi

This glass of gin infused with lily gets a dash of lime and mint with salt. We just love how the whole flower sits on top.

Orchid Infused Vodka at The Daily, Bandra




This glass of orchid infused vodka and chrysanthemum tea is refreshing, balanced, floral and easy. We are told that the flowers are sourced from the regions famous for them. And yes, this one’s seasonal.
