What happens when a company discovers minerals on a remote island and decides to mine it? Corporate politics is the subject of Project Strip which traces the events that follow the same.

Elaborating on the subject, theatre director Quasar Padamsee says, “All of us have been equally involved with the play right from its inception.” He also lets us in on a few details. “Not many know that the play had premiered last year in Mumbai but we had only opened it for about three weeks.” The writer Ram Ganesh Kamatham set out to write the play once again and this time a lot of new elements have been incorporated. “So it is almost like a new play, but the actors are all the same,” quips Quasar.

Performed by Tariq Vasudeva, Harssh Singh, Shruti Sridharan, Dilnaz Irani, Harssh Singh and Neil Bhoopalam, the cast remains unchanged. The play questions the integrity of human life and addresses a lot of issues that Quasar has been wanting to talk about for the longest. “It so happened that Ram and me were thinking about the same issues. I have travelled all over the world and a few issues came to my mind and I decided to do a play. We have included the recent oil spill issue off Mumbai as well. Ram loved the idea though he had a different take on it, we met somewhere in between and the play was born.”

Quasar plans to take the show to cities across the country. He hopes to start touring soon and says, “We are going to Kolkata and cities across the country and if we get lucky, then may be even take it abroad.” Quasar who also began the famous Thespo theatre festival at Prithvi is excited about the new plays lined up.

“Thespo begins end of this year and that is when we have a few new plays coming up. It has been a busy year but I am
enjoying it.”
