A book that really keeps you engrossed is one where you find yourself laughing out loud. This tongue-in-cheek take on love and break-ups had over a dozen moments when I caught myself laughing out loud, oblivious to where I was. Judy keeps you switching between the story and the blog of Breakup Coach, 30-year-old Sophie Thilagam with alternating chapters. Each blog post is influenced by the going-ons in Sophie’s who prefers to be single, and advises the world with her ‘truth’ on breakups via her blog.
A unusual situation arises and Ryan enters her life, challenging her every theory on love and forcing her to reassess what she thinks and feels. As if things were not complicated enough, the arrival of Yatan, her if-someday-guy makes life all the more spicy. Judy plays the situation out with delightful ease in this witty take on relationships and brings a refreshing twist to the tale. This piece of chick-lit is a delightful read for men and women alike, all of whom can learn something from Sohpie’s tale.
