Ever entered a party and wondered what the most happening dance numbers for the season are? Well, here’s some help, from the most popular DJs in town, as they list national and international tracks, which get Bangaloreans to the dance floor.
Familiarity works

Says DJ Ivan, “The song that gets people dancing depends on many factors from the mood of the party to the audience present there. Right now Save The World by the Swedish house mafia is one the most requested songs, along with tracks by Scottish singer-songwriter and DJ Calvin Harris.” Commercial tracks especially by pop artistes end by being the most requested tracks.

Says DJ Sasha, “Songs by artists like Jennifer Lopez, Usher, and Enrique Iglesias are extremely popular among party goers these days. These songs are hot favorites because people know these artistes, which add to their recall value taking the popularity quotient higher.” DJ Jasmeet too believes that the popular names get the most votes in his parties. “People know some of the most established names in house and dance music. These names inevitably top the requests list. David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Akon, Flo Rida and Pitbull are the names that instantly get everyone on the dance floor,” he points out.

Going progressive
However, not everyone grooves to known and popular commercial tracks, says DJ TT. While these do well, a lot of party lovers in the city love progressive music too. “Bangaloreans know the music churned out by artistes like Armin Van Buuren, Marcus Schulz and Gareth Emery equally well. The AVB concert in the city was so well received that the venue was packed and there wasn’t an inch of space left,” TT exclaims. Agrees DJ Yon, who says that Bangaloreans are well versed with different genres of house and electro music. “Today, people come in full attendance when musicians and DJs collaborate to create new sounds. While popular songs remain the most requested, we’re fast developing a loyal fan base for newer artistes,” he adds.

Desi does it
And when so much is played and listened to, can Bollywood music be left far behind? When it comes to the Indian music scene, DJ Jasmeet points out that last year’s top tunes are still rocking the dance floors of Bangalore. “Sheila and Munni are still very much in demand among the city’s partygoers. Along with that, the new song that’s currently rocking the dance floor is Akon’s Bollywood debut Chamak Challo, from Ra.One,” he says.
DJ Sasha shares his list of best tunes for Bollywood parties. “While Munni and Sheila are good tracks, 2011 has brought in some new numbers that have taken over. The movie F.A.L.T.U.’s Chaar Baj Gaye track appeals to the younger crowds. The other tunes that are a hit are Salman’s songs from Ready, especially Dhinka Chika,” he adds.
