Mad Max has hit the theatres. After Hrs looks at some of the iconic cult warrior looks seen on the ramp over the years...
Moto cross pants paired with shimmery sweats rocked designer Christophe Decarnin's line for Balmain Spring 2010. In Spring 2006, psycho-punks with paper mohawks were seen at Junya Watanabe while Lanvin Fall homme 2010 runway saw the pairing of camouflage prints and bandannas. Rick Owens' Fall 2015 menswear looks were monastic but with a dash of Armageddon. Post-apocalyptic aesthetic has haunted designers across the board.
Even a granny-ish brand like Chanel's Fall 2011 collection saw some war-inspired edgy looks which stood out against a inflammable backdrop. As it's often said, designers always reference art, cinema and the mood of the moment and that message is translated through their collections. In a world where grim realities like suicide bombers and the possibility of nuclear attacks are debated day in day out - it's not surprising to see the same conversation taking place on the runways and the racks. Besides, Hollywood films Mad Max and Armageddon just add to the creative juices.
