Ever been stuck with a worn out bicycle or vehicle tyre? A teenager has come up with an eco-conscious way to get rid of it. With a focus on safe disposal of tyres, Anubhav Wadhwa's company even provides a pick-up service for all those willing to donate such tyres.

The idea of starting Tyrelessly came to the 17-year-old after he saw burning tyres at a street corner while on his way home after class. Moved by the sight of black fumes released into the air, he researched sustainable methods of recycling tyres.

The findings stayed in his mind. "A 100 million tyres require recycling in India every year, that is about 2,75,000 tyres a day. Of this, only 5 per cent are recovered and the rest are subject to unsafe and irresponsible methods of disposal," says Wadhwa. "There is no proper way to deal with burning tyres and their ill-effects on the environment."

This is what prompted Wadhwa to start Tyrelessly, with an aim to use technology for sustainable development. Numerous industries burn tyres to obtain fuel such as petroleum gas, steel and carbon. However, the methods they use are not always safe, says Wadhwa. "At Tyrelessly, we use a chemical process with no harmful emissions.

From 1,000kg of tyres, we are able to recover 450 litres of fuel, 150 litres of petroleum gas, 75kg of steel and 250kg of carbon," he says. "This fuel is then sold to the industries, making them aware of possible substitutes for safe extraction of fuel from tyres, while protecting the environment."

Calling themselves a 'tyres-to-trees' company, they encourage motorists and vehicle owners to donate their end-of-life tyres for responsible disposal.

With our end-of-life tyre collection and disposal service, the company provides peace of mind to those who feel responsible for the environment. How does this work? Log-in to the Tyrelessly website (www.tyrelessly.com) with an e-mail id and initiate a pick-up request. Your coordinates are verified and a pick-up ID is issued, after which you can track your pick-up progress using the ID, followed by the collection of the tyres which are then graded and categorised for safe disposal.

"My company makes enough to sustain the team while helping the environment. For now, we primarily function in Delhi but have conducted pick-ups from nearby places as well," says Wadhwa who studies at the Pathways World School in Delhi.

Tyrelessly is not his first company. At 13, he had founded TechAPTO, a software company, becoming, in 2013, the youngest CEO in the country. But success has not come without effort. Wadhwa starts his day at 5:30am for school after which he rushes to take care of both his businesses.
