Foot hygiene is essential throughout the year, however, it is all the more crucial during monsoon.
Monsoon season brings with it the magical rain spell but it also leads to various skin and hair problems. While people take extra care to look after their hair and skin, often other areas like our feet get overlooked.
Foot hygiene is essential throughout the year, however, it is all the more crucial during monsoon. The rain, wetness and humidity in the air can cause smelly feet, sweaty feet, wet shoes, fungal infections, cracked toes, athlete foot, fungal infections and several other allergies. But you can keep these problems at bay by following these simple home remedies:
1. Camphor and talcum powder for stinky feet
To prevent smelly feet, make a fine powder out of some camphor and add it to talcum powder. Now before you wear your socks, put some of this mixture on your feet and you’re good to go.
2. Soak feet in salt and hot water
This is an age-old remedy practised by our parents and grandparents too. Mix salt or mild shampoo in hot water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes. The salt acts as a catalyst to kill the bacteria and get rid of the smell. Now, gently remove dead skin cells from your feet with the help of a pumice stone. Wash and dry your feet and follow it up with a nice foot cream.
3. Hot water and lemon for sweaty feet
If you suffer from the problem of sweating in your feet, soak them in a concoction of hot water and few lemon drops. To this twice a week to control sweating. Try and wear breathable footwear like flip-flops or sandals when you step out.
4. Tea tree oil to keep fungal infections at bay
To get rid of the bacterial and fungal infections around the toes you can use tea tree oil.
5. Use onion juice to get rid of itchiness
If the rainy season has left you with itchy feet then you can massage onion juice between your toes.
