1.Increased crowds

The influx of tourists, especially during peak season, has led to overcrowding, making it difficult to enjoy the beaches and attractions. The once-tranquil beaches are now packed with people, making it challenging to find a peaceful spot to relax. According to CEIC, only 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Goa in 2023, compared to 8.5 million in 2019.
2.Rising costs

The cost of living in Goa has increased significantly in recent years, making it less affordable for budget travelers. Accommodation, food, and transportation have become more expensive, deterring visitors who are looking for value for their money.
3.Environmental degradation

The impact of tourism on Goa's environment is becoming increasingly apparent. Pollution from waste, noise, and traffic is affecting the natural beauty of the state, leading some travelers to seek out more pristine destinations.
4.Limited activities

While Goa is known for its beaches, there are limited other activities and attractions to keep visitors engaged. The lack of diverse options may leave some tourists feeling bored or unfulfilled after a few days.
5.Competition from other destinations

The rise of alternative destinations in India and abroad has given tourists more options to choose from. Places like Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and international destinations offer similar or better experiences at more affordable prices.
