Moisture contact for an extended period of time increases the likelihood of fungal and insect attacks.
Due to the low temperature and humidity, the monsoon is the perfect time to plant. They offer the roots the opportunity to grow. Your indoor plants can absorb the humidity in the air and absorb the extra sunshine that they receive during the summer months.
However, during this time of year, you must give extra attention to your plants. There are various things to keep an eye on, from watering to fertiliser application
So, here are some pointers that will help you take care of your plants-
1. Do not over water plants
The say anything in excess is harmful. Well, it is true even in plants. Excessive watering can affect the soil’s fertility and your plants may not survive for long.
2. Make sure the pots have a good drainage system
After watering, drainage holes let excess water to seep out of pots, preventing water from pooling at the base of the pot and protecting sensitive roots from rot, fungus, and bacteria.
3. Check the plants for infections
Mealybug-induced stunted growth, patches on leaves caused by the rose black spot fungus, and decay caused by the rice blast fungus are just a few signs that your plant is infected.
4. Ensure proper ventilation
Proper ventilation allows moist, heated air to be replaced with dry, cooler air, maintaining the ideal degree of humidity. Plants use carbon dioxide from the air to metabolise energy in the process of photosynthesis, as we all know. Oxygen is one of the by-products of this process.
5. Prune plants before monsoon
Pruning decreases disease concerns, enhances aesthetics, boosts agricultural yields, forms and rejuvenates, and prevents insect infestations while also eliminating the potential of property damage.
