1.Culinary delight

Culinary delight Be it the traditional tagines or cuisines from around the world, Essaouira is every foodie’s dream destination. The trout here is recommended by most tour guides. But don’t leave the city without sipping on Nous Nous, the coffee popular here. The eateries also do a great job with baked goods, do sample some.
2.The cats of Essaouira

The cats of Essaouira The late-18th-century fortified town being a major fishing harbour, has a massive population of cats. And the felines don’t just find a place by the docks, but you will also see them on the walls of the city in the form of art work. Locals say that cats prevented the outbreak of plague very many decades ago, and since then they have been a part of the city.
3.A LITTLE FAMILIAR?

A LITTLE FAMILIAR? If the places you visit seem familiar, it’s because, you have probably seen them on the big screen. This is Daenerys Targaryen’s Astapor. If you are not into Game of Thrones, the recent Jagga Jasoos was also shot in this beautiful port city. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have been in the lanes of the city riding their scooty with the sea gulls flying over their heads.
4.Arty world

Arty world The streets of Essaouira are full of beautiful artworks created by talented artists. This is where you should pick up works by local artists. The Medina has many art galleries that have a huge array of artworks to pick from, and owners are ready to help you select and securely pack your purchase.
5.Go local

Go local No matter which part of Morocco you visit, you just cannot leave the country without sampling some orange juice. The same holds true for Essaouira. Also, visit the fish market here, where you can buy fresh catch and then carry it along to get it cooked as per your liking.
6.Silver story

Silver story Essaouira is known for its silver creations. From contemporary designs to traditional Berber symbols, you’ll find a lot to choose from. The Medina has many boutiques. You can try your hand at bargaining, but you may not always be successful.
7.Street-art stories

Street-art stories One of the things I loved the most about the city is the wonderful street art that is displayed on its walls. Be it an artwork that makes a political statement, a call to save mother nature, or something absolutely abstract, this proves to be a great medium of creative expression.
8.Bazaar baatein

Bazaar baatein The Medina of Essaouira, which was founded in the middle of the 18th century, has managed to conserve its authenticity. The lanes of the Medina overwhelm you with a flamboyant display of colour and smell. The bazaars here sell souvenirs, traditional clothes, tapestries, shoes, bags, pottery, and food.
