COVID-19 second wave: Follow these 10 tips to boost your immunity

A better immunity will make you stronger to fight COVID-19. There are various ways a person a can boost their immunity.

COVID-19 cases in India are rising at an unprecedented pace and the country is grappling with unavailability of ventilator beds, Remdesivir and other medicines. In such a situation it is extremely crucial that apart from adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols, people also take care of their immunity and health.

A better immunity will not prevent a person form getting the virus but it will make them stronger to fight it. There are various ways a person a can boost their immunity. Recently, the government has issued a list of welfare measures and Ayurveda options that a person can take to increase their immunity. These are: 

You should drink adequate lukewarm water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated.

Make daily practice of Yogasana a part of your routine. Do Pranayama and meditation for at least 30 minutes everyday.

Regular use of spices like Haldi (Turmeric), Jeera (Cumin), Dhaniya (Coriander) and Lahsun (Garlic) in cooking can also boost immunity/

Always take light, easily digestible and nutritious food and avoid eating junk food. Take adequate sleep for at least 7-8 hours daily.

Maintain personal hygiene. wash hands frequently for minimum 20 seconds with soap and water, practice social distancing and use homemade masks whenever you go out. Spend quality time with family 

Take 10 gm or one tablespoon of Chyavanprash in the morning. Diabetics should take sugar free Chyavanprash.

Drink herbal tea or decoction (Kadha) made from Tulsi (Basil), Dalchini (Cinnamon), Kalimirch (Black pepper), Shunthi (Dry Ginger) and Munakka (Raisin) - once or twice a day. Add jaggery (natural sugar), if needed. You can also drink Golden Milk which is made by adding half tea spoon Haldi (turmeric) powder in 150 mil hot milk-once or twice a day. 

Simple Ayurvedic Procedures like Nasal application of sesame oil or Ghee in both the nostrils morning and evening can also help to boost the immunity.

The list also says that you can take Samshamani Vati-2 tabs (125 mg) two times a day for 15 days (further doses should be taken only on the advice of ayurvedic practitioner).

Try to use Khajoor (dates), Anjeer, Sabudana, Moong Dal, Barley, Soups of seasonal vegetables etc, in diet to boost your immunity.
