Model Shamita Singha talks about the importance of eating healthy as she reveals her daily routines.
What’s in your make-up bag?
My professional kit has lots of products, every kind possible. But my personal case is basic with a liquid foundation, blusher, mascara and lip gloss.
Describe your skincare routine.
I wash my face thrice a day and tone and moisturise at least twice daily. However, my post make-up routine is more lengthy.
What’s your go-to beauty look for a red carpet event?
I prefer to go with heavy eyes, like a smoky eye in blue, black, brown or ash depending on the outfit. For the lips, I go for a light shade and big and glamorous for the hair. Sometimes I style my locks in a messy loose bun.
What do you think is sexy, beauty-wise?
Good skin is sexy! Skin that you can show off without applying too much make-up, just use a touch of mascara and gloss.
Who were your idols growing up?
Cameron Diaz — I love her style. She has this very fresh classy and simple look.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve tried in the name of beauty?
It would probably be vinotherapy — that’s soaking my feet in red wine.
What product do you turn to for a beauty boost?
My skin is very sensitive so I usually stick to fixed products. Those that contain clindamycin or tea tree oil really help my skin.
Do you have a signature fragrance? Where do you like to spray it?
I have a couple — I use Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker for the day as it has a beautiful clean, fresh scent. For the night, I either use She by Armani or Hypnose by Lancome and spray them on my neck or behind the ears.
Do you gravitate toward a lip colour and if so, which shade?
I love a fresh mouth — so I opt for pink and brown shades.
Do you switch up your make-up based on your hair colour?
No I never colour my hair but I do like trying the sun-kissed bronze effect on my face.
Do you think it’s important to stick with a signature look?
No, you must experiment. Eventually you will get bored of the same look. In fact changing your hairstyle can make a world of a difference to your look.
Are you good at applying your own make-up?
Yes, I learnt how to — I would initially hate it but now I can do my own make-up in my sleep.
Have you ever had any beauty disasters?
There are times I haven’t had time to thread my eyebrows so then I either quickly tweeze them or use concealer. Other times when wearing a dark lip gloss it has occasionally stuck to my teeth.
What’s your ultimate beauty tip?
Drink enough water, eat right and exercise. I personally vouch for vegetarian food.
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever received?
I believe there are no shortcuts to beauty. Eat, exercise and live right!
