Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje will once again face a woman adversary in forthcoming assembly elections from her constituency Jhalarapatan. Mukul Pankaj Choudhary, the wife of IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre Pankaj Choudhary would contest forthcoming assembly elections from the seat.

Mukul terms it as battle for the honour of her husband who has harassed in current government. Mukul’s mother Shasi Datta was a minister in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government but later shifted to BSP.

Speaking to DNA Mukul informed “Yes I will contest elections from Jhalrapatan. I am going there after five days and work towards contesting elections. Actually this is the only democratic way I can oppose the injustice being meted out to my husband. He is an honest officer with commitment towards betterment of society and has paid the price of this in form of seven charge sheets.”

“I could have taken an easy way out. Asked help from my mother and used her former association with BJP but I prefer to fight a democratic battle. And I will fight to win,”said Mukul an MBA finance from Poddar Institute of Management, Jaipur.   

Mukul’s mother Shashi Datta was the Law minister in Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government. She had later fought the 2008 assembly election on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket, but lost. Her father Som Dutta was an RAS officer.

Pankaj Choudhary is a 2009 batch officer who hails from Varanasi. He is an engineer and has been a state level cricketer. Choudhary has been at loggerheads with the present government for quite some time and has been served seven charge sheets. But he had also had altercations with the previous Congress government headed by Ashok Gehlot.
