Vasundhara Raje promotes over 6,000 constables in one go

In an unprecedented move, more than 6,000 constables of the Rajasthan Police were given promotion at an event held at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) on Wednesday. The Home department had surveyed and selected these constables to be promoted to the rank of head constables.

A total of 6,082 constables were given promotion in presence of the family members and relatives. The event started at 11am in presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria. Senior police officials including Director General of Police OP Galhotra, Additional Director General NRK Reddy, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Rajeev Dasot and B L Soni were among those present.

In her address to the gathering, CM Raje emphasised that the State Government has made a rule that 50 percent promotions in state police force would done on basis of seniority.

"This will ensure that no police officer retires on the same post of constable even after decades of service which was the norm till now. History is being created with promotion of 6,082 contables to head constables. Similarly we had promised recruitment of 13,000 men in the police force which we have completed. Rajasthan police is foremost in digital policing also. Now we have to become the number one force," Rajasthan chief minister said.

She added, "policing has a huge role to play in good governance and without the police department's hard work, no government can go a long distance."

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said: "During such times the issue of cops retiring at the same position as they entered into service came to light."

SENIORITY BASIS

CM Raje emphasised that the state government has made a rule that 50 percent promotions in state police force would done on basis of seniority.  This will ensure that no police officer retires on the same post of even after decades of service.
