Two retired IAS officers appointed CM Ashok Gehlot advisors

State government has appointed two retired bureaucrats in role of advisors. Retired IAS Arvind Mayaram has been appointed as financial advisor to the chief minister while another retired IAS Govind Sharma will be adviser to the chief minister. Mayaram has held key posts like being former finance secretary and tourism secretary in the past and will now be giving his expertise in the field of finance to the chief minister.

Govind Sharma too has held senior positions during his service and was finance secretary during the second tenure of Ashok Gehlot government. The appointment orders of both these officials were issued by department of personnel on Friday evening. The appointments have been done two days later of revamping of the chief minister’s office when the IAS officers posted in the CMO where shuffled.

While the bureaucracy has been reshuffled and advisors have been appointed the cabinet formation is yet to take place in the state. During the previous BJP government, there was a chief minister advisory council in which there were sub-groups of various departments.

Former chief secretary C S Rajan was full time deputy chairperson of this council while various experts from different fields were its members.
