India number one in boys Under-19 Tushaar Shahani did not break a sweat to move into quarterfinals of the sub-junior/Junior national squash championships on Wednesday in Jaipur. He defeated Suraj Chand 11-4, 11-2, 11-8. 

Local boy Jairaj Singh (9/16 seeded) created a big sensation when he downed Anuj Unadkat (5/8 seeded) in nerve wracking five games 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10. 

The others who made it to the last 16 were Rutvik Rau, Utkrash Baheti, Veer Chotrani, Inderjit Singh, and Rahul Baitha.

In the girls under-19, the top seed Radhika Rathore prevailed Rajasthan girl Shanala Paruthi in four games 11-6,8-11,11-3,11-5 to enter the quarterfinals.

 Earlier, first of the blocks was Anaya Dabke, the top seed in girls under-17, who defeated Tanishka Jain with comfortable easy with the scoreline reading 11-3, 11-8, 11-5. 

In the girls under-11, the number one Anahat Singh made short work of Anika Dubey winning at 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 while in the girls under-15, the top billed Yuvna Gupta, lost the first game to Gitaanjali Vasudevan, who put up a great fight against the top seed. But Yuvna finally prevailed  8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10. 

However, in the same age group, the second seed Ansh Tripathi faced no such problems as she sailed past Ekambir Sing 11-9, 11-8, 11-4. Vasudha Surange caused the first upset of the day when she defeated Aasya Patel 11-7, 8-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-9.

Asian junior champion Yuvraj Wadhwani, the top seed in the boys under-13, moved into the last 16 with easy as he trounced Dev Sharma 11-2 11-3, 11-5 while Aaryaman Jaising, the fifth seed, survived scare by unseeded Om Semwal, who took first two games and it looked as if he was heading to create an upset. 

However, Aaryaman, who was off-colour in the first two games, got his act together and staged a remarkable comeback to wrap the match at 8-11, 11-13, 13-11, 11-8, 11-9.
