Though this relief from chilly winter is temporary and according to weathermen, dip in mercury will be seen in next 48 hours as hills in northern parts of the country have already been battling freezing point temperatures.

After more than a week-long spell of continuously decreasing temperatures across the state, the mercury climbed a little during last 24 hours and at many parts of the state, which were reeling under cold wave condition minimum temperature climbed 2-3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Though this relief from chilly winter is temporary and according to weathermen, dip in mercury will be seen in next 48 hours as hills in northern parts of the country have already been battling freezing point temperatures.
According to local MeT office report, Churu was the coldest place in plains in the state on Tuesday where minimum temperature was recorded at one degree Celsius. Mount Abu, the only hill station in the station continued to see the mercury around or below zero degrees notch last week, though, on Tuesday minimum temperature here climbed to 2 degrees Celsius. At Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer minimum temperature reached above normal level at 10.1, 10.6 and 11.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
Despite temperature rise in western and northern parts of the state, the minimum temperature continued to be 1-3 degrees Celsius below the normal notch. In Alwar, Sikar, Bikaner, Shri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Kota, and Barmer the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.8, 3.5, 3.5, 4.3, 6.0, 8.3, 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, the marginal improvement was seen in temperatures on account of changing wind pattern, but they are all set to drop again now. Now, chilly northwesterly winds have been blowing across the northwestern plains. These winds will continue to blow undoubtedly with increased wind speed. As a result, night temperatures would witness a further drop. Not only this, but day temperatures would now also take a dip over most parts of the state.
As per forecast in the next two to three days, both day and night temperatures are likely to settle down well below the normal average, leading to cold wave to severe cold wave conditions. With this, chances of frost are very much likely during the morning.
