A major grassroots sports event under ‘Khelo India’ scheme, Jaipur Maha Khel 2018 concluded at Chitrakoot Stadium on Sunday. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, gave away prizes to the winners.

Women’s Kho-Kho title went to Shahpura, which defeated Jhotwara. On the other hand, Jhotwara won the men’s volleyball title by beating Shahpura. Winner teams were awarded a trophy, certificates and cash award of Rs. 51,000 by Colonel Rathore, and the runner-ups were given a cash prize of Rs. 31,000. Both the semi-finalists got Rs, 21,000 each.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the event, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore said that sports is the best medium to learn about the values of life and that is why there is a need to organise such grand sports events countrywide. He added that the grounds created for this competition should later be used for other sports events too. Rathore also appealed everyone to back the girls in every field to promote women empowerment. 

Jaipur Maha Khel 2018 commenced on February 4. A total of around 5,500 people including 501 teams from different sports took part in the event. Also, 102 grounds were prepared at 34 places for this grand sports event.
