Scenic safari: Revamped junction opens for all

Visitors coming to Jaipur junction will now witness a beautified railway station. The project of concourse renovation at Jaipur Railway station, with an objective to revamp existing concourse to welcome tourists and improve and facilitate passengers with comfort, has been completed and now the concourse hall is open for public use. An energy efficient fan of 24 feet diameter has been installed in the hall which has already become a centre of attraction.

An important objective of this was also the restoration of existing artworks and developing a new central area. This work was taken up by students and faculty of Vivekananda Global University’s Centre for Design Excellence under the supervision of architect Shweta Choudhary.

Minute detailing was kept in mind while working on paintings and matching traditional art forms of Jaipur. Worn out and stained paintings were retouched by artists and sealed with a lacquered finish. The ceiling has been decorated with matching linework which compliments the artworks and adds to the beauty of interior space.

Officials of NWR, while giving the details, informed that 32’ x 12’ 3D mural on the front wall is one of its kind in the whole North Western Railway. Based on the theme of ceremonial procession scene of the King with the backdrop of well known Hawa Mahal, the mural is made on 12mm plywood. The artwork has been created using around 700 kg of putty and white cement. The work was done off-site on 4’ x 4’ sized 24 pieces, later they were arranged and installed on the site for a realistic scene depiction. The artwork was created and executed by artist Dinesh Jangir and his team involving Shivdaan, Aman, Ajay, Gaurav, Arshita, Archana and Vinay. Artist Anoop Sharma and his team executed the renovation and completion of Mughal artworks on walls and ceilings.

Apart from this, the shields won by Jaipur division have been placed along with the newly installed logo of Indian Railways with space earmarked for future achievements.
