Rajasthan: With Cyclone Daye around, good spell of showers likely to persist

More downpour: Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Sikar and Jaipur will receive rains in next 12-24 hrs

Cyclone Daye has revived Monsoon in almost all parts of the country and Rajasthan witnessed a good spell of rain and thundershowers for fourth consecutive day. The remnants of the cyclone were seen on well-marked low-pressure area over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining western Madhya Pradesh and this was responsible for triggering moderate to heavy showers over the eastern parts of the state.

As per local MeT office report, during last 24 hours heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in eastern Rajasthan while heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in western Rajasthan. Light to moderate rain was witnessed at most places in eastern Rajasthan and at few places in western Rajasthan. In last 24 hours on Monday, Jaipur recorded 2.4 mm of rainfall followed by Churu (0.5 mm). The other parts of the state— Deogarh (Rajsamand) and Jawaja (Ajmer) recorded rains to the tune of 170 mm followed by Beawar (Ajmer) 160 mm, Tatgarh (Ajmer) 110 mm, Bhim (Rajsamand) 110 mm. Areas like Amet (Rajsamand), Pipalkhunt (Pratapgarh), Veja (Dungarpur), Arnod (Pratapgarh), Kanva (Dungarpur), and Pratapgarh stacked up 90 mm rainfall each. Present weather conditions are conducive to receive more rains over northeastern Rajasthan. Places such as Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Sikar and Jaipur are expected to record rains in next 12-24 hrs.

As per forecast, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at many places in eastern Rajasthan and isolated places in the parts during next 24 hours.
