Rajasthan: Shops shut, people take out rally to condemn Pulwama attack

Traders, school and college students and citizens hold march across the city to pay tributes to Pulwama martyrs

A day after the Pulwama attack on CRPF convoy, Jaipur came together in solidarity with the martyr’s families while condemning the heinous attack on the jawans. 

City markets were shut for the day while demonstrations were held by people in market places. While traders conducted demonstrations, even lawyers demanded quick action by the government to teach the perpetrators of the attack a lesson. Several other organisations have also demanded the government that an action be taken in the matter.

Early in the morning, the trader organisation in New Sanganer Road and Sodala observed a bandh and kept their shops closed for business on Friday. The gathering, took out an Aakrosh Rally and raised slogans against Pakistan and the terrorist activities.

Students from the Rajasthan University too paid homage to the martyrs which was attended by students. 

On the other hand, the members of Hariom Seva Samiti also held a demonstration and burnt effigy of Pakistan while also raising slogans. The trader organisartions at Chandpol decided to observe two minute silence and also observed a blackout from 6.30 pm onwards, while expressing anger against the attack. The traders switched off the lights of their shops and took out a silent march on the roads. While the walled city was registering their despair in this fashion, a candle light march was organised from Ambedkar Circle to Amar Jawan Jyoti on Janpath attended by hundreds of students and citizens from the city.

Condemning the terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, Ajmer Sharif Dargah dewan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan on Friday urged government to not allow devotees from Pakistan to visit the shrine. Khan while paying tribute to the martyrs urged government to not allow ‘jatha’ or group of devotees from Pakistan to visit the famous shrine in Ajmer during festivals, including Urs.
