Rajasthan Roadways introduces luxury travel for kumbh pilgrims

The Time: Bus will leave Jaipur for Prayagraj at 7 in evening

The devotees willing to take a holy dip during Kumbh can now book the ticket in Rajasthan Roadways’s luxurious Volvo service. The state-owned roadways body has decided to start Volvo bus service between Jaipur and Allahabad, now officially known as Prayagraj from January 12. This non-stop bus will ply during the duration of Kumbh and will end on March 5.

Giving the information, executive manager (public relations) of roadways Sudhir Bhati said that the bus will be run by deluxe depot of Rajasthan Roadways and it will depart from Jaipur at 7 pm and will reach Prayagraj at 9 am.

While coming back, it will start from Prayagraj at 7 pm and will reach Jaipur at 9 am. This super luxury bus will cover the distance of about 750 km in about 14 hours. The fare of this bus has been fixed at Rs1716/- and the benefit of concession as per the rules of Rajasthan Roadways to females and senior citizen till the border of state will be 30% as per the rules.

Two days back, seeing the passenger load due to upcoming Kumbh festival, railways has re-started the Jaipur-Allahabad Superfast Express which was earlier partially canceled citing fog conditions. Railways had earlier suspended the service of this train between Jaipur and Mathura anticipating foggy weather on this route. However, now seeing the rush of the passengers willing to take a holy dip in Kumbh, railways has restored this train, informed the railway officials. As such, the passengers will now have a choice, while the fare of this bus is as mentioned before is Rs 1716, the fare of this train in third AC category is Rs 1125 per ticket.

However, transportation experts inform that it’s not realistic to compare the two modes of transportation. While in the case of roadways, the life of the bus is calculated and depreciation is calculated which adds to the cost of the fares, the fare of trains is calculated at some other level. Moreover, the volume of passengers being catered by both the means of transport is different.

The Train
