The mine and quarry owners will get allotment letters on priority on paying a premium to the government. “It means they won’t have to contest for auction or bid in future to get the mines.

A statement released by the state government outlined the amended rules governing the lease deed and quarry licences for mines up to 4 hectares that will be issued on priority.

“Mining lease deeds between 1 and 4 hectares and quarry licence from 0.18 to 4 hectares can be issued on paying premiums by the mine holders,” the statement said.

The premium will be five times the dead rent and quarry licence fee currently in place. The government has also given relaxation and allowed the mine and quarry holders to pay premiums in five annual installments which can be deposited at the end of each financial year.

Any interested miner can apply for the lease deed by filling in the requisite application form available online. The small miners for a long time had been raising the demand which was finally approved by the government in election year.
