The Gurjar community members blocked Hindoli-Uniyara national highway number 148D, near Topa village in Bundi district, on the second day on Monday demanding 5 per cent reservation in government jobs and educational institutes.

Hundreds of Gurjars, including women stayed put on the road throughout last night and today. Some of them danced on Devnarayan bhajans to pass the time keep the agitators in high spirits.

Meanwhile, Gurjars in Baran on Monday held meetings at several places in the district and chalked out their strategy to join hands with the statewide agitation from February 16.

“We would continue to sit on the road and block the NH 148D until our demand for five percent quota in government services is met and our leader Col. Kirori Singh Bainsla directs us to remove the road blockade,” said Radha Kishan Poswal, a local Gurjar leader from Nainwa town of Bundi district.

They have been struggling for five percent reservation for last 16 years and have lost many lives  in the agitation in past and this time they won’t move from the road blockade until they are granted five percent reservation, he said.

It is Devnarayan Jayanti on Tuesday, the occasion the entire Gurjar community celebrates with great enthusiasm but this time they are determined to celebrate the occasion on the national highway.  “We would celebrate Devnarayan Jayanti and perform puja on the road,” said Poswal.
