In a major step towards linking Sikar and Jaipur by broad gauge track project, the trial of track between Palsana and Reengus was done on Wednesday. The engine reached Palsana from Sikar at about 11 am and thereafter, with pooja ceremony, the engine went on the new broad gauge track for Reengus. Sources informed that engine ran on the track at the speed of 125 km per hour and it covered the distance of 22 km in 15 minutes.
The officials which had come from Sikar along with the engine gave green signal to this trial. Now, the inspection of the Commission of Rail Safety (CRS) will be done on this track on October 26, informed the sources.
After that, the officials from Mumbai will visit and give the report based on the inspection done by CRS of this track. If they give approval for this track’s safety, then the operations can be started on this track.
It’s noteworthy that the work to convert meter gauge track between Jaipur and Sikar was started after the rail traffic was completely stopped on the meter gauge track in November 2016. Since then, the work is being done.
In the first phase of this project, Sikar to Palsana has been completed. The CRS inspection of the track between Sikar and Palsana was done in the month of February. Now, the phase between Palsana and Reengus is being completed and after that, in the third phase, the work between Reengus and Jaipur will be completed.
The targeted date of completion of this project is in March 2019, however, sources informed that the project may take 2-3 months more after the target date to get completed.
After that, Sikar and Jaipur will once again get linked by railways. However, the track between Sikar and Reengus may be started once the work on this route gets completed. Meanwhile, the work of remaking two platforms at Jaipur Junction and platforms at 7 stations falling between Jaipur and Reengus is going on in full swing.
