Rajasthan: Once served as SPs, Sanjay Agrawal replaced by old pal on top post

The Jaipur Commissionerate saw a major change in the recent IPS shuffle as the serving Commissioner was ousted while a new official was placed in the position. Interestingly, both the outgoing and new officers have a past history as they have both served in the capacity of Jaipur Superintendent of Police – North and South. Furthermore, there is a marked way in which both the officials approached policing and crime solving as well.

While outgoing IPS officer Sanjay Agarwal was considered to be a firebrand official who handled several things at any given moment, the new Commissioner – IG Anand Srivastav – is considered cool, composed and calculated.

When Agarwal was appointed as the Jaipur Commissioner, he brought a fresh approach to crime fighting in the Jaipur Commissionerate and as a result, major crime incidents were solved in record time. The Commissionerate officials were even motivated by Agarwal on developing ground intel as well.

Meanwhile, Srivastava – who has served as SP North in Jaipur – has been a famous name due to his actions that led to the bursting of a major antique smuggling gang operating from the city. He was instrumental in bringing a major dealer – Vaman Narayan Ghiya – to books. 

Another feather in the cap moment for Srivastava as Jaipur SP was when he solved a major theft within twenty-four hours when a theft occurred in a showroom at MI Road and he was able to nab the miscreants behind the theft from Uttar Pradesh and get them back to Jaipur in record time. How Srivastava strengthens the city policing and enables them to establish law and order while fighting crime in a better manner, remains to be seen.
