Rajasthan: Detained for trying to show black flags

The workers of Congress and Hadouti Vikas Moracha were on late Sunday night detained while they were allegedly seeing an opportunity to wave black flags during chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s Gaurav Yatra in Kota. Meanwhile, about 25 Congress workers were on Monday detained in Bundi while they were heading to submit memorandum to CM Raje at a school ground.

On Saturday night as well the police had detained a few other Congress leaders while they were allegedly planning to wave black flags at CM Raje during her yatra in Kota. A few Congress and Hadouti Vikas Moracha workers led by the moracha’s divisional head Rajendra Sankhla and district head Sandeep Bhatia with plan to wave black flags at CM Raje’s Gaurav Yatra, assembled at Kothari Circle in Kota on Sunday night when the retinue of Gaurav Yatra was about to pass through the area. Someone among the protestors, confusing the traffic hustle on the route with the CM’s retinue took out the black flag and raised slogans that alerted the police.  

Police force along with STF personnel reached the spot and using mild force dispersed the crowd while detaining about 12 workers including the moracha’s divisional head Rajendra Sankhla and district head Sandeep  Bhatia. The detained workers were later sent to Anantpura police station. Kota police on Saturday night also detained two Congress workers allegedly involved in planning to wave black flags during CM’s yatra in the Kota region. ‘A few people  creating nuisance were detained last night, however, they were later allowed to go free,’ said additional SP, Kota city, Umesh Ojha. The ASP also refused to have resorted to mild force to disperse the crowd. 

Meanwhile, around 25 Congress workers including Up Jila Pramukh Satyendra Meena, Bundi city Congress president Devraj Gochar, PCC member Bharat Sharma, youth congress general secretary Charmesh Sharma, Jugroop Singh and several others have been detained by Bundi police. They were led by ex-state minister and senior Congress leader Hari Mohan Sharma as they headed to submit memorandum to CM Raje from Bundi district Congress office.

Raje Yatra

The one who does not fulfill his responsibility to the public does not deserve to be the head of a state, said CM Raje on the concluding day of Gaurav Yatra in Hadouti region. On Monday she addressed three public meetings at Keshoraipatan, Bundi and Hindoli in Bundi district. ‘We are taking out the yatra as we are proud of the developmental works carried out by our government, she said.
