The ward members and workers have been also instructed by the party functionaries to conduct crowd funding while knocking at doors of the voters in order to boost party finance also.
To boost its poll prospects ahead of Assembly election, the Congress will launch a ‘Lok Sampark Abhiyaan’ (public relation campaign) on October 2, celebrating birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Meeting voters and crowd funding to boost party finance are major activities planned under the campaign that will run till October 19.
“As per AICC directions the party under the leadership of PCC chief Sachin Pilot will kick off Lok Sampark programme on Tuesday. In 91 wards of Jaipur city the workers will visit doorsteps of people with voters list having in their hand. If any voter name is missing from the list of a particular booth, the party workers will add his or her name,” said Pratap Singh Khachariyawas about the nationwide campaign which Congress has planned in wake of assembly election in coming three states by year-end and the Lok Sabha election next year.
The ward members and workers have been also instructed by the party functionaries to conduct crowd funding while knocking at doors of the voters in order to boost party finance also. Pilot has also already appealed for the same. “
Rs1 onwards the people can contribute to our party fund. Whatever fund is collected from the crowd will be used to boost party finances,” added Khachariyawas.
The blueprint of the campaign was designed and implemented by Congress General Secretary Ashok Gehlot during Gujarat assembly election last year of which he was in-charge. He extensively toured voters’ residences and distributed them slips. Now, the party wants to implement this programme across the country.
Recently, Gehlot had sent details of ‘public relations campaign’ to all the state officials, state presidents asking them to monitor the entire campaign and direct organisations (frontal organisations) to take part in this.
