The cause of concern for the BJP is that despite having a 21-member executive for 51,000 polling booths across the state, the party polled just one or two votes in several polling booths in the three byelections.
In the light of recent assembly election in Karnataka and three defeats in state byelections, the BJP has drawn up massive plan to strengthen polling booth management as the party faces a resurgent Congress buoyed by victories in Alwar and Ajmer parliamentary constituencies and Mandalgarh assembly seat.
The cause of concern for the BJP is that despite having a 21-member executive for 51,000 polling booths across the state, the party polled just one or two votes in several polling booths in the three byelections.
The importance of strengthening the polling booth units has been time and again reiterated by the organisational leaders like Chandrashekhar and V Satish. Coming to brass tacks, the party has decided to verify and take feedback on than 51,000 polling booths across the state. During this period, active and inactive workers of party’s booth unit will be identified and motivated to work with much vigour.
In this regard, a day-long booth formation workshop was organised on Friday at the BJP state headquarters in which each senior leader was given the responsibility of five mandals.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, ex-state president Ashok Parnami, general secretary (organisation) Chandrashekhar, booth vistaraks, district presidents and state executive members took part.
All the district heads and district in-charges have been given instruction to increase the activation of booth units.
The top BJP leaders of the state directed the Booth Formation Committees that the welfare schemes launched by Centre and state government must reach to the voters at booth level.
“The party has given the responsibility of the five mandals to each senior leader.
Their main task is to activate the booth unit. In the last 15 months, the party has formed booth units across the state. Senior workers will visit the booth and take the feedback from the organisation unit to know the status of the booth. “Now, assembly elections are only a few months away and before that the state BJP wants to strengthen its position by strengthening the booth unit,” said Parnami.
