The BJP state leadership is caught in a bind over action against councillors, who voted against the party’s official candidate in the Jaipur mayor by-election. The cross-voting by 21 councillors left the BJP red face as its rebel candidate, Vishnu Lata, defeated party’s candidate Manoj Bhardwaj.

A faction of the party is putting pressure on the state leadership to take action against all the identified 20 councillors. But due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the action has been postponed.
