Proposed strike of city bus staff to affect commuters in Rajasthan

In coming days, the services of city’s low-floor buses as well as interstate Rajasthan Roadways buses may get affected. While the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) employees union which runs the low floor buses has called for a strike on September 17 and 18, various sections of Rajasthan Roadways employees union have also given a call of the strike from midnight of September 16 till midnight September 17.

If the strike happens, it will cripple the road transportation affecting thousands of people who have to travel daily by low-floor buses or have planned to go to various cities using Rajasthan Roadways buses.

The various demands of low floor employees include that the employees who have been left out of the ESIC scheme should be given the benefit of a comfortable medical scheme.

They are also demanding uniform allowance while they have many other demands too pertaining to weekly off, bonus ex gratia etc.

A large number of students, working professionals etc use the low-floor buses on a daily basis.

This will not be for the first time that JCTSL run low-floor buses will be on strike. In the month of July, the private contractual drivers who are running the buses on PPP mode had gone on strike. That time, the management had got the buses driven by its own employees which have now given the call of strike.

In case of Rajasthan Roadways buses too, this current call of a strike is to get the agreement implemented which the union employees had got signed with the state government in the month of July.

NOT THE FIRST TIME

This will not be for the first time that JCTSL run low-floor buses will be on strike. In the month of July, the private contractual drivers who are running the buses on PPP mode had gone on strike. That time, the management had got the buses driven by its own employees which have now given the call of strike.
