PCC chief Sachin Pilot lobbed his fourth question at chief minister Vasundhara Raje where he sought reply on what makes her feel proud of  ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ when on the other hand hundreds of farmers are committing suicide, something that Rajasthan should be ashamed of and grieve about. Pilot also referred to the suicide of a farmer in Nagaur district on Sunday, who took the extreme step after the government attached his properties for failing to clear the loan due on him.

Accusing Raje for being insensitive, Pilot said that farmers under her rule protested extensively on agrarian issues, but she failed to solve their problems. “She has announced to waive off loan upto Rs 50,000, but still farmers continue to commit suicide. Mangalchand, a farmer from Nagaur, hanged himself as he could not repay the loan amount,” said Pilot, alluding to the ineffectiveness of the loan waiver.

The farmers have been deceived by the government as the agencies are charging premium amount from the loan without informing them, he further said. “Since 2013, when Raje assumed office, natural calamities destroyed the harvest of farmers, but this government failed to heal their wounds,” said Pilot.
