“It’s natural for political parties to guard their interest, yet they will be under pressure from public to sacrifice their personal interest and come together to defeat the fascist forces,” Gehlot said .

On many occasions the Opposition parties have shared platform against the Modi government. The opposition parties joined the Congress during the demonstration against inflation led by AICC national president Rahul Gandhi.

The recent backing of mega alliance came from AICC general secretary, a day after he and other senior Congress leaders shared dais with Loktantrik Janata Dal national president Sharad Yadav at a social harmony conference held in Jaipur. Here, Sharad Yadav has expressed support to Congress in order to defend constitution and democracy. On Monday, Ashok Gehlot too warned the smaller parties about the ‘threat’ from BJP.

“In their executive meeting, they revealed that if voted to power this time they shall occupy government for 50 years is a threat to democracy itself,” said Gehlot.

As Congress holds the mega alliance imminent at national level, it also creates an obligation on the party for an alliance in Rajasthan in the coming assembly elections. The party president in the state, Sachin Pilot stays averse to possibilities of any alliance in the state at cost of seat sharing. Gehlot, who have been chief minister twice, is asking all parties to look above personal gains.

Incapable Govt

Gehlot questioned BJP government. Former CM Ashok Gehlot expressed reservation  on the working of BJP government in Rajasthan under chief minister Vasundhara Raje. He said that the government is incapable and is under control of babus.
