A wide range of shooting stars will be hoping to hit bull's eye at the 62nd National Shooting Shotgun Championships at the Jagatpura shooting range here on Saturday.

This 17-day event, which began on Friday, will consist of skeet, trap, double trap categories for both men and women.

Rajasthan Rifle Association had earlier held this event for two years straight in 2015 and 2016 and thus, Jaipur has earned a unique distinction of hosting this premier marksmanship event for the third time in the last four years.

This time, more than 600 shooters from across the country have come here to take part in this championship.

Ace shooters such as Arjun Awardee Anwar Sultan, Olympian Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Mansher Singh, Shagun Choudhary and several others will be participating.

In the last few years, large number of shooters have emerged from Rajasthan and more so from the Jagatpura shooting range. Therefore, all eyes will be on shooters like Manavdiyta Rathore, Vivan Kapoor, Aman Ali Ilahi who are from Rajasthan and are part of the Indian junior team of trap for the last three years.

Himangini Rathore, Shambhavi Kumari, Darshana Rathore and many other women shooters will also be displaying their shooting skills from Saturday when the trap and double trap events begin.

The men's events will begin on Sunday and on Saturday, practice sessions for men's category will be held.

Due to upcoming assembly election and imposition of the model code of conduct, the police have advised all shooters participating in the events to carry their valid arms licenses, National Rifle Association ID card and proof of participation with them.

This is being done to ensure that the shooters do not face trouble and inconvenience as under model code of conduct for assembly elections there is strict law and order implementation by administration.

Meanwhile, a record 6,000 shooters are participating in the National Shooting Championship being held in Thiruvananthapuram.

This time the 23-day event will not have the wild cards system. Stars such as Manu Bhaker, Mehuli Ghosh and the like are among the big names in the fray.
