Mayor Ashok Lahoti welcomes new chairmen of 26 panels

The JMC office is abuzz with activity after the announcement of the committees on Thursday night. Rooms are being spruced up for chairmen of different committees. To accommodate new chairmen, some JMC staff has been asked to vacate their rooms to make way for new members.

Mayor Ashok Lahoti congratulated and welcomed them with bouquets and sweets and also showed them their chambers.

After formation of 26 functioning committees, the newly appointed chairmen reached the JMC headquarters on Friday. Five chairmen, including senior councillor Rakhi Rathore, did not reach the headquarters.

On the other hand, the rebellion against the mayor has gained strength as a certain section of BJP councillors are up in arms against the appointment of committee chairmen.

According to sources, the councillors have decided to complain about the mayor to the state general secretary (organisation) Chandrashekhar. However, the mayor has denied any feud among the councillors. Responding to media queries in this matter, the Mayor said that there is no dispute or opposition in councillors. All the BJP councillors are united.
