Jhalawar man jailed for raping step-kid

A 32-year-old man was produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody for 15 days. The accused was arrested on Wednesday for raping his seven-year-old step daughter at his home in Dadiya village falling under the Sarola police station of Jhalawar district. The victim’s mother, late on Tuesday evening, had lodged a case of rape against her husband.

According to complaint, the crime was committed about 35 to 40 days ago, but the victim’s mother could not muster courage to lodge a report against her husband. After consulting her parents and delivering a baby as she was 8 months pregnant at the time of crime, she came forward with the plaint.

“The 32-year-old man has been identified as Shivraj Meena,” SHO of Sarola police station Bannelal said. The victim’s mother approached the police station and lodged a case of rape, the SHO said.

The victim’s mother in her report stated that she has been married to Shivraj Meena for about two-and-a-half years now under ‘Nata Pratha’ and has two children from her previous husband.  

While she was sleeping with her husband and children at her home about 40 days ago, she found her husband in compromising position with her daughter in the room, the mother alleged in the report. The victim later disclosed to her mother that it was not the first time her step father had committeed the act and had threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone.
