Jaipur police rescue nine child labourers, two held

The cops have registered a case while sending the children to child shelter.

The city police rescued nine minors on Sunday afternoon who had been pushed into child labor and were being forced to make bangles in the Walled City area. The cops learned about the activities of two men who had brought the children and were forcing them to work here after which a team was formed which raided the premises where the bangle making operations were carried out and arrested two men while rescuing the children. The cops have registered a case while sending the children to child shelter.

According to the police, information was received that children were employed for bangle making in house number 3572 of Ghaaswali Gali located at Kalyan Ji Ka Rasta area under Kotwali police station area. “After the information was received, it was shared with senior officials who formed a team to raid the house and rescue the children. At first, verification was conducted of the locality and once the verification was conducted, the team was directed to conduct the raid,” officials said.

The police team reached the spot and cordoned the area to avert anyone from running away. “The premises was then raided by the team and children were found making lac bangles. The team came across two men, who upon seeing the cops, tried to flee from the spot, however, the cops chased the men and nabbed the duo. They were then identified as thirty-seven-year-old Mohammad Farooq, a native of Sultanpur in Samastipura district of Bihar while the second has been identified as twenty-year-old Mahfooz, a native of Darbangha in Bihar. It has also come to light that the duo had brought the children from Bihar. The children were being forced to work and were given a minimum amount of money. A case has been registered and further action is being taken,” officials said.
