The city police arrested two criminals on Wednesday while busting a major gang involved in shootouts, kidnapping, demanding ransom, extortion and carrying out criminal activities in the Shekhawati region. The gang had receintly carried out two firing incidents in Sikar wherein one person was shot at also. One of the arrested has a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head by Sikar police. The cops have also recovered one pistol and live rounds from the men.

On Wednesday, information was received by members of the Jaipur Commissionerate’s CIU team about two men who were wanted for firing incidents in Fatehpur town of Sikar district. “The information revealed that the two men – identified as Ranveer Singh Naik alias Mama and Mahesh Jat were accused of firing in Fatehpur and were roaming in Vishwakarma area of Jaipur. A special team was formed that involved Vishwakarma police and CIU team by senior officials,” said officials.

The team then started sweeping the area for the miscreants. “While scanning the area for the miscreants, the police learnt of their proximity and nabbed them from the Delhi road area. One loaded pistol, two live rounds and one used cartridge were recovered from their possession,” officials said.

The men were taken to police station and were interrogated. “They confessed that they were involved inb two firing incidents at Fatehpur area, which was widely discussed on social media. In one of the incident firing was done on a businessman’s house with a view to strike terror as the men wanted to extort money from him. The second incident occurred when the men opened fire on the manager of Anokhi hotel on Bikaner highway and cases were registered in both the matters. The Sikar police was searched for the men when the Jaipur police learnt about them and nabbed them.
