Managing director of Jaipur Discom Naveen Arora informed that the consumers who have been issued electricity bills in the month of December will get one month bill in January.
The electricity consumers will remain unaffected and will get monthly billing from the month of January even though RG Gupta, the chairman of discoms and managing director of Jaipur discom has resigned on Tuesday.
Managing director of Jaipur Discom Naveen Arora informed that the consumers who have been issued electricity bills in the month of December will get one month bill in January. The consumers who were issued bills in November as per the billing cycle will get two months bill in January. After that, all the consumers of the Jaipur city circle will be in the same bill cycle and all the consumers will get monthly bill from February. Currently, the customers in the city circle get electricity bills on a two months basis. Earlier, Jaipur discom had planned that it will start the monthly billing system in the city circle from the month of December.
Discom needs to have additional resources to issue the bills on a monthly basis and therefore, it will now start the new system of billing from January. Now, the consumers who are in habit of paying a big amount every two months for electricity bills will have to change their habit and prepare to pay the bills every month like the bills of any utility services like water bills or mobile phone bills. Discom had earlier started the system of paying the bills and complaints through the mobile app of “Bijli Mitra” which has now become very popular. Consumers are now using that app to pay the bills and the lines at the discom bill collection centres have reduced at a faster pace.
Naveen Arora had just taken over on Tuesday after RG Gupta, in a sudden move, resigned on Tuesday. Gupta was made the chairman of Rajasthan Discoms in the month of July. He was till then holding the charge of managing director of Jaipur discom and after Shrimat Pandey, who was till then chairman of discoms was selected at chairman of RERC, he was made the chairman of discoms.
