Jaipur foot steps into United Nations headquarters

So far 66 camps have been organised in 29 countries (South Africa, Latin America, and Asia) and distributed artificial limbs to the differently abled people.

The Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), a non-profit organisation dedicated for providing free of cost artificial limbs to disabled people is going to organise an exhibition at the headquarters of United Nations in New York. The five-day event will be held from 14th to 18th May under Permanent Mission of India to United Nations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and BMWSS and Jaipur Foot, USA in New York.

The institution has so far provided support to 17 lakh people. Particularly, it has played an important role in making 6 lakh people stand on their feet by providing artificial limbs. So far 66 camps have been organised in 29 countries (South Africa, Latin America, and Asia) and distributed artificial limbs to the differently abled people. Now, the whole world will be familiar with the journey of this institution, which started in 1975. 

Prem Bhandari, chairman of Jaipur Foot, USA told DNA that the purpose of exhibition and seminar at United Nations is to help differently abled people of many other countries of the world. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Chairman of ICCR and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, National Vice President of Red Cross Society and in charge of Rajasthan BJP, Avinash Rai Khanna and Chief Whip in Rajya Sabha, Narayan Lal Panchariya. Jammu and Kashmir cabinet minister Abdul Gani Kohli will be the special guest. D R Mehta, founder of BMVSS, and Satish Mehta, retired Officer of the Indian Foreign Service will also be present. 

“Five thousand people have been benefitted from artificial knee made by Stanford University and Jaipur Foot. Bhandari said.
