The jail authorities came to the rescue of the duo and took them to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered in the matter and the cops have initiated an investigation. Interestingly, the duo that was beaten by the gang had been arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) under arms act.
The duo that was beaten has been identified as Rakesh Puri alias Raka and Indra Pal. “The duo is behind bars for past some time and were arrested by the SOG. The incident occurred when they were standing in a line in the canteen inside the central jail. While Rakesh and Indra Pal were waiting for their turn to purchase something, suddenly six men headed by gangster Shravan Soni reached the spot. Without any hint, the men suddenly started beating the duo. The six men overpowered the duo and though they tried to fight them off, the two men were no match against the might of half a dozen gangsters,” officials said.
The gang beat the duo black and blue and hit them with punches and kicks. “Jail authorities, on hearing the commotion, immediately rushed to the spot and separated the gang and the two men. They were badly beaten and were taken to hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the Lal Kothi police were also informed and a case in the matter was registered,” officials said.
