Rejuvenated by the visit to local area over the weekend, both Indo-US contingents got down to focuss on the business of dealing with terrorists. With the final exercise visible on the horizon, both the contingents got down to final fine tuning of inter operability and cooperation with the overall aim of seamless joint operations.

On November 26 both the contingents now are focussed on the final outdoor exercise which involves storming of terrorist bastion. Various aspects which would be put to use during the final exercise are being practiced on day to day basis. Aspects related to medical procedures, and evacuation and demolition practices have been dealt with already in the past three days.

Today’s focus is on sharing ideas and practices to improve mobility in desert both by foot and of vehicles. Indian troops showcased modified Maruti Gypsy and All Terrain Vehicle. The troops then extensively practiced on driving these vehicles in the desert terrain.

The annual Indo-US joint military training exercise – Vajra Prahar – started from Monday onwards in the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges. A contingent of one officer and ten other ranks from the Special Forces Group of the United States Pacific Command arrived at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges on 18 November 2018 for undertaking Joint training with the Indian Special Forces.

The American Special Forces will carry out 12 days rigorous joint training in semi desert and rural terrain with an aim to enhance the inter operability of the two armed forces and further the military to military co-operation.

The contingents will train on aspects such as hostage rescue, building intervention, desert survival, medical aid and combat firing. At the end of the joint training, the Special Forces will undertake a three days outdoor exercise to validate their best practices.
