Haryana police have arrested Pradeep Goyal, a close aide of Ram Rahim, from Udaipur. A team of the crime branch of Haryana police along with Udaipur’s Special Task Force arrested Goyal on charges of inciting riots and arson when judgement in the dera chief’s case was delivered.

Police sources said, Goyal allegedly took two bus full of tribals from Udaipur to Panchkula, where the verdict was delivered. They had been promised Rs 25,000 each for inciting violence after the judgement was pronounced. Some of the youth arrested by police revealed Goyal’s name upon interrogation.  

Goyal, a resident of Haryana, had been living in Nakoda Nagar area of Udaipur for the past few months with his family. He was in Udaipur to coordinate and further the interests of the dera. He was active in the Jhadol tribal area near Udaipur. Sources said, police found several photographs of Ram Rahim and his daughter Honeypreet from his phone.

Speaking to media, Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria said that the police have ascertained facts before making the arrest. He said that there was concrete evidence pointing at Goyal and the arrest was made after ascertaining it.

Police also said Goyal could provide vital information about Honeypreet.

THE AIDE’S MOTIVE

  • Pradeep Goyal was in Udaipur to further the interests of Dera Sacha Sauda.  
  • Cops said he can also provide info on Ram Rajhim’s daughter’s whereabouts.
