An Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuth from Bundi on Friday arrested Ex Kota UIT chairman RK Mehta for allegedly abetment to bribery, giving profit to wrong person by misusing his powers as the chairman of the institute and accepting a bribe of five lakhs.

Ex UIT chairman RK Mehta was detained from  his home in Talwandi area in Kota city for interrogation following his name surfaced in a case lodged in July 2018 under section 8,9, 10, 12, 13 [1][D] of PC Act 1988 Act and 120 B of IPC, told DSP, ACB, Bundi Tarunkant Somani.  Mehta, following interrogation, was later arrested, he added.  

Two other accused Mahesh Kumar Meghani and Kanwaljeet Singh had earlier been arrested and are now out on bail, he said.

During the investigation, ex UIT chairman Mehta surfaced as playing a key role in transcripts of mobile recording and was found to have negotiate an un fair deal of Rs20 lakhs out of which he accepted five lakhs. In a land related matter, Mehta, as UIT chairman played a role of mediator in abetment to bribery of Rs20, lakhs and by misusing his power of office, he gave profit to a wrong person in an unfair manner, the DSP added.

RK Mehta was the chairman of UIT, Kota during BJP led previous Vasundhra Raje’s government is considered to be one of the favorable  of Raje.
