Congress MLAs to camp at Jaipur hotel till Rajasthan Assembly session begins on August 14

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has told Congress MLAs camping at Hotel Fairmont in Jaipur that they will have to stay there till the Rajasthan Assembly convenes on August 14, reports quoting party sources said. 

Gehlot said this to his party legislators at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held at the hotel on Thursday. 

Ministers can visit the Secretariat to complete their work, a source present at the CLP meet told ANI.

Governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday accepted the state government's recommendation of holding the state Assembly session from August 14 after rejecting three letters sent by the Cabinet.

The order for convening the Assembly was issued after the fourth request by the state government. The Gehlot government is facing a crisis due to differences within the ruling Congress.

Rajasthan Congress has been in turmoil ever since simmering differences between former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and Gehlot came out in the open. Pilot was removed as the Deputy Chief Minister and the state unit chief of Congress on July 14.

Pilot and at least 18 MLAs even moved the court against Rajasthan Speaker's disqualification notice. Pilot camp claims that Gehlot government is in a minority and he has the support of 30 Congress MLAs.

The Congress has accused the BJP of indulging in horse-trading to bring down the Gehlot government. However, the BJP has rejected these allegations. (ANI)

Meanwhile, Rajasthan High Court on Thursday issued notices to Speaker CP Joshi and six BSP MLAs over their merger with Congress. The support of these legislators is crucial for the Gehlot government in case of a trust vote.
