Congress leaders led by RPCC chief Sachin Pilot and Jaipur Congress Committee president Pratap Singh Khachariawas on Thursday burnt effigy of ‘Modi Government’ to protest against the ‘unconstitutional’ formation of BJP government in Karnataka.

“In archaic way the BJP is indulging into horse trading of MLAs and strangulated the democracy in Karnataka. The Modi government is misusing power. The Governor got Yeddyurappa to swear in as the chief minister which is an insult to the Constitution of India. This could not be accepted at any cost. The horse trading of the MLA by BJP is also setting a trend which is a threat to democratic values. Only JDS-Congress alliance should have been allowed to form the government,” Pilot said.

Moreover, Khachariawas accused the Central government for creating an atmosphere of conflict across the country. “If law and order situation worsens during the protests then the Center will be solely responsible for it. We will not allow the Centre to ‘kill’ our democratic values,” Khachariwas said. Mahesh Joshi, Brijkishore Sharma, Archana Sharma, Jyoti Khandelwal, Vikram Shekhawat and Manoj Mudgal also took part in the protest.
