The situation  in Barmer, Jalore, Siwana and Raniwara has become tensed due to violent events during the Bharat bandh by several organisations against the change in the SC-ST Act. Incidents of massive stone-pelting and arson took place after encounter between agitators and traders. Violence and fury led to burning of several shops and vehicles. As the situation became tense, police had to resort to lathi-charge and use tear gas. Section 144 has been imposed in Barmer, Siwana and Sanchore. On the other hand, Internet service have also been discontinued in Jodhpur division except the Jodhpur police commissionerate.

People came to shut the market in Barmer on Monday morning in support of the call of Bharat bandh by dalit organisations. During the process, Karni Sena activists opposed the shutdown. Altercation between bandh supporters and opponents increased. After which both sides started pelting stones on each other leading to tension in the area. The police which reached there had to face opposition. Lot of people, including six policemen, were injured due to stone pelting.

Agitators pelted stones even in Kotwali police station and created ruckus. Earlier, the police reached the spot after the news of the ruckus, after which protesters were chased away. Police had to use tear gas to overcome the protesters here. The police had to lathi charge three times till noon. The protesters burnt four vehicles.
