Will Rajasthan be retained by the BJP or Congress makes a comeback, it will be decided on Tuesday when the counting of votes takes place. The counting of votes will begin from 8 am at 35 centre across the state wherein 20,000 employees would be engaged to count votes.

Rajasthan Chief electoral officer (CEO) Anand Kumar said that the authority has made all requirements for the counting and security of EVMs stored. “Three-layer security has been enforced at all the centres so no one could disturb the process. Without any error and delay, the results will be declared after the counting.

The top official informed that authority has installed 350 LED screens collaborating with the department of information and technology. “The counting trends and results will be displayed at the LEDs installed at the public places. The process will be initiated with the counting of postal ballots and later the EVMs will be opened for counting of general electorates,” said Kumar. Meanwhile, 86.92 polling was recorded at polling booth no 163 of Karanpur assembly that went to repoll on Monday. The state election department took the decision of re-polling after it came to notice that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were not cleared of the mock poll when the actual polling began.

Voting in 199 out of 200 constituencies was held last Friday. Over 74 percent polling was recorded on the polling which can be tabbed a good response of people towards festival of democracy. Though, the people failed to beat their records which they made in 2013 assembly polls. A 75.23 percent voter turnout was recorded in the previous polls, a record.

The fate of 2274 candidates is sealed in the EVM, of that 187 are female, will be decided on Tuesday with the counting of votes. Ramgarh constituency in Alwar district will go to poll later due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has not decided the day of polling in the constituency. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje is fighting election from her traditional seat Jhalrapatan where the Congress has fielded Manvendra Singh, an ex-BJP and son of former external minister Jaswant Singh. PCC chief Sachin Pilot is in fray from Tonk constituency where BJP has bet on its lone Muslim candidate, Yunus Khan. Two times CM and AICC general Secretary Ashok Gehlot is contesting from Jodhpur’s Sardarpura constituency, which he represents.

Both, the BJP and the Congress are locked in a tough fight in Rajasthan, which has not voted the same party to power for more than one term in the last 20 years. The contest is largely bipolar between the BJP and Congress in about 150 seats. There are 830 independent candidates as well.
